Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

Director: David Yates

Review: Good energetic action, great spooky atmosphere and quite funny too.

Go see it if: You've at least seen the previous films. The book helps, but it's not as essential as the last few.

And if you liked: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Pan's Labyrinth, Brazil, The Lord of the Rings

The Arbor

Director: Clio Barnard

Review: Loses its way a bit at the end but is still very atmospheric moody and powerful.

Go see it if: You're not depressed. It's pretty rough.

Let Me In

Director: Matt Reeves

Review: Generally well made and recreates the atmosphere of the original but ultimately brings nothing new and badly overdoes a few scenes.

Go see it if: You so horrified at the idea of reading subtitles that you can't bring yourself to watch the original.

And if you liked: 30 Days of Night, Let the Right One In, Elephant

The Kids Are All Right

Director: Lisa Cholodenko

Review: Drags a little at the end and lacking in some closure but is otherwise a very well performed and engaging movie.

Go see it if: You're not put off by... sex? I guess?

And if you liked: Modern Family, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Away We Go, It's Complicated (except good)

Jackass 3D

Director: Jeff Tremaine

Review: Fairly hit and miss but when it hits it's definitely some good fun.

Go see it if: You can handle a lot of on screen vomiting... a lot.

And if you liked: Jackass, Jackass: The Movie, Jackass Number Two, Pink Flamingos

Jackass Number Two

Review: A bit long and has a few genuinely sickening moments but does deliver some good chuckles.

Rent it if: You find Jackass funny. It's that simple.
